Threads character counter
Paste a draft to see how much of the 500-character limit it uses. Over the limit, it splits the text into a thread at word boundaries, ready to copy post by post.
The text never leaves this page: it is counted and split in your browser.
Do it right in the composer
This page is the same counter and the same Split that the Feedray extension adds to the Threads composer: a live "N/500" while you type, and a Split button once the draft runs long. No copying back and forth, and nothing is posted until you press Post.
Questions
What is the character limit on Threads?
A regular Threads post holds up to 500 characters. Anything longer has to become a thread: several posts in a row.
Where does it split the text?
At the last space before the limit, so no word is cut in half. Only a single "word" longer than 500 characters, such as a long link, is cut where the limit falls.
Is my text saved or sent anywhere?
No. Counting and splitting happen in your browser; the text is not sent or stored.
